 Course Description:

    Certificate Program: EKG Tech

The EKG Technician is the person responsible for performing diagnostic tests to access the heart rhythm and rate in patients. EKG's are also performed before and after operations, during physicals, examinations of patients over 40, for patients with a history of heart disease, when patients are experiencing chest pains and when the Doctor deems it necessary. The well trained EKG technician is an integral part of the management of patients with heart disease. The EKG Technician may also clean equipment, maintain and process data reports.  After the required prerequisites, the program can be completed in one quarter. Along with the classroom practice, this program includes a lab clinical externship under the guidance of experienced professionals.


 

Certificate Program: Phlebotomy Tech

The Phlebotomist Technician is the person responsible for drawing blood as instructed by a physician or other health care professional. Most patients have their blood drawn at medical examinations or during hospital stays.   The phlebotomist performs venipuncture on patients, transports blood specimens, maintains and cleans venipuncture trays, and may perform simple urinalysis tests, not to include microscopic examinations. Along with the classroom practice, this program includes a lab clinical externship under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take a national exam for Phlebotomy Technician.
