 Course Description:

An Office Laboratory Technician is a health practitioner qualified by education, experience, and examination to perform routine medical laboratory testing and office tasks typically associated with a physician’s office practice.

Nature of the Job
As a multi-skilled practitioner, the technician performs wavered and moderately complex laboratory testing, medical 9front) and office tasks, and performs a variety of tasks involving direct patient contact.  As the technician is involved in many diverse aspects of medical office practice, quality assurance, safety, and professional conduct are defining aspects of the practitioner’s role.

Some of the duties performed by an Office Laboratory Technician:

Certified Office Laboratory Assistant

Assists others in performing routine administrative and clinical tasks
Answer telephones
Updating and filing laboratory specimens
Assist in the collection and testing of medical specimens
Perform (depending on State Law) chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests
Assist with blood fluid, tissue samples to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other micro-organisms
Analyze various tests

Prerequisites

No prior experience needed can start in the Introductory Course

If Experienced can start in the intermediate level.
